In 2016, Brazilian player Willian won the Chelsea Player of the Year award. Willian is the only Brazilian player in the history of Chelsea Football Club to win the Chelsea Player of the Year award. In 2017, Belgium winger Eden Hazard was awarded the Chelsea Player of the Year award. In 2018, French midfielder N’Golo Kante won the Player of the Year award.
In 2019, former Belgium captain Eden Hazard was again named Chelsea Player of the Year. Eden Hazard has been named Chelsea Player of the Year four times. Croatian midfielder Mateo Kovacic has been named Chelsea Player of the Year for 2020. Before Mason Mount, who was named Chelsea Player of the Year for 2021 and 2022, Frank Lampard was the England footballer who was named Chelsea Player of the Year in 2009.
